Signs to watch for

  • Weakness and hunger
  • Trembling and wobbliness
  • Seizures or collapse from low blood sugar

What to do

If a pen was punctured or a dose injected, rub honey or syrup on the gums if your pet can swallow, and come in immediately.

Macau note

Chewed insulin pens can inject a dose. Diabetic households should store pens in a drawer, not on the dining table.
