Signs to watch for
- Vomiting and diarrhoea
- Lethargy after a rich meal
- Belly pain if a large amount was eaten
What to do
Check the flavour first: chocolate, coffee or nut mooncakes need a call immediately. For lotus and yolk types, withhold food and monitor.
Macau note
Every Mid-Autumn Festival we see dogs who raided the mooncake box. Lotus paste and salted yolk are very rich; the wrapper and box ribbon add choking risks.
