从澳门携带宠物旅行:须知事项
计划携带宠物从澳门出行?了解进出口要求、检疫规则、航空政策以及目的地规定。
Whether you're traveling to mainland China, Hong Kong, or flying internationally from Macau, traveling with your pet requires careful planning and up-to-date documentation. Macau's unique position as a Special Administrative Region means different rules apply depending on your destination. Starting preparations early — ideally 2-3 months before travel — ensures a smooth journey for both you and your pet.
- Most destinations require a valid rabies vaccination and health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian
- Different countries have different import requirements — research your specific destination well in advance
- Microchip identification (ISO 11784/11785) is required for most international pet travel
- Airlines have specific crate requirements and booking procedures for pet travel
- For travel to mainland China, pets need a health certificate from Macau's IAM ()
- Start preparations at least 2-3 months before your planned departure date
Documentation Requirements
For international travel, most countries require: ISO-standard microchip, current rabies vaccination (administered at least 30 days before travel), rabies antibody titer test (for some countries, must be done at an approved laboratory), and a health certificate issued by a government-approved veterinarian within 10 days of travel. For travel to mainland China, the requirements are simpler but still require proper documentation from IAM.
Choosing Airline Travel
Different airlines have different pet policies — some allow cabin travel for small pets, others require cargo hold transport. Book pet spaces early as airlines limit the number of animals per flight. The crate must meet IATA standards with proper ventilation, secure latching, absorbent bedding, and water dishes. Acclimate your pet to the crate weeks before the flight to reduce stress.
Preparing Your Pet
Visit your veterinarian for a health check and ensure all vaccinations are current. If your pet is anxious about travel, discuss anti-anxiety options with your vet. Practice short car rides to build tolerance. For flights, avoid feeding your pet 4-6 hours before departure to reduce nausea. Ensure your pet is comfortable in their travel crate — place familiar bedding and a worn t-shirt with your scent inside.
Cross-Border Travel (Macau to Mainland/HK)
Travel between Macau and mainland China or Hong Kong has specific requirements. Pets crossing to mainland China need a health certificate from IAM and may need to enter through designated ports. For Hong Kong, import permits must be obtained from AFCD (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department) in advance. Rules change frequently — always verify current requirements with the destination authority before traveling.
