Signs to watch for

  • Anxiety and drooling
  • Whole-body tremors that worsen
  • Seizures and high temperature

What to do

Come in immediately: metaldehyde tremors escalate to continuous seizures within hours and need aggressive hospital treatment.

Macau note

Used in gardens and flower beds after rain. The pellets look like kibble to dogs; this is among the most violent poisonings we treat.
