Signs to watch for
- Vomiting, sometimes with blood
- Black tarry stool
- Jaundice and seizures as the liver fails
What to do
Treat any chewing as an emergency and come in immediately. All parts are toxic and the seeds are the worst; survival depends on early treatment.
Macau note
Sold as an ornamental pot plant in Macau garden shops. One or two seeds can kill a dog.
