Why Vaccinations Matter
Vaccinations are one of the most important things you can do to protect your pet's health. They prevent serious, potentially fatal diseases and are required by law for certain conditions in Macau.
Core Vaccines for Dogs
- Rabies — Required by law in Macau. First vaccine at 12 weeks, annual boosters.
- Distemper — Protects against a highly contagious and often fatal virus.
- Parvovirus — Especially important for puppies. Can be fatal without vaccination.
- Adenovirus — Protects against infectious hepatitis.
Core Vaccines for Cats
- Rabies — Required by law.
- Feline Panleukopenia — A highly contagious and deadly virus.
- Feline Calicivirus — Causes upper respiratory infections.
- Feline Herpesvirus — Another common respiratory pathogen.
Vaccination Schedule
Puppies: Start at 6-8 weeks, with boosters every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks old. Annual boosters thereafter.
Kittens: Start at 8 weeks, with boosters every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks old. Annual boosters thereafter.
Adult pets: Annual or triennial boosters depending on the vaccine.

At Royal Veterinary Center, vaccination packages start from MOP 300 for annual boosters. Puppy and kitten vaccination plans (including multiple doses) are available from MOP 1,250.
